Trembling Throat

from Trembling Throat EP by Brandon Pfaff

/

lyrics

I didn’t know what to say
So i sat there, quietly
Watching every move you made
Like it was some kind of sign

Language I couldn’t place
But I knew it so well
It hummed like hospitals
And rang like wedding bells

There’s an ancient song
In the back of the throat
We’ve all sung the words
All played the notes

Chords of sorrow and joy
Life and death all as one
Sweet grace in the morning
And love, turned bitter, undone

Spent a couple of weeks
Just sorting things out
Learning when to hold my tongue
Testing when to shout

Some holy obscenity
A half mumbled refrain
Something lost in translation
When the heart won’t speak to the brain
